Westech Seal, Inc.™, Odessa, Texas, is a manufacturer of mechanical seals and related components for centrifugal pumps. We have been manufacturing replacement seals since March, 1987. WSI is a regular vendor and supplier of mechanical seals, parts and training directly to end users in various industries. Over the years names have changed, but we have supplied to customers such as Amoco, BP, Total Fina, Shell, Chevron, Texaco, Chevron-Texaco, Exxon-Mobil, Mobil Pipeline, Phillips Pipeline, BP-Arco, Conoco-Phillips, GPM, Diamond Shamrock, Sun Oil, Sulzer Bingham, Huntsman Polymer, as well as distributors who resell our product to Du Pont, Union Carbide, Eastman Kodak, Exxon and many others. We have a network of over 200 distributors across the United States. Our seals are also found in many countries around the world
Westech Seal is housed in a 27,000 square foot (2,500 square meters) precision manufacturing facility. We machine 316 stainless steel, Alloy 20®, Titanium, Hastelloy® C-276, Monel, and other exotic materials and have one of the largest carbon cutting operations of any seal company, cutting CNFJ-B, M400, EK2200/3205 grades daily. We are the only seal company with the capability to resin impregnate carbon after machining. We also stock many of the metal filled and impregnated carbon materials. We carry a large inventory of finished silicon carbides, tungsten carbides, and ceramic stationary faces. We have five lapping tables in a temperature and dust controlled room with up to 18" capability. Seal faces are lapped within two light bands of flatness. The largest seal we have engineered has a shaft diameter of 11" or 280mm. We have many thousands of drawings on hand, and if we do not have manufacturing drawings on a particular seal we are capable of reverse engineering from a sample. To save time and money, you can provide the manufacturing drawings, which remain in your private file. Several OEM's currently use this service. We purchase our raw materials from the same vendors as the OEM seal companies to insure quality. We have the capability of expanding to several times our current capacity with short notice.
Typically seals are blamed for many pump problems because they are thought to be the "weak link" in the system. However, often these problems are not attributable to the seal itself.
Experience has shown that even the best seal will not last long in a poorly maintained or operated pump. To help in the quest of increased mean time between failures, Westech Seal is a sponsor of a three-and-a-half day training class in conjunction with Odessa College and IMSP, Inc. The course includes 28 hours of instruction and hands-on training providing the student with 2.8 Continuing Education credits.
The objective in this training is to insure that you or your customer are not having to replace components unnecessarily, saving considerable expense and costly downtime.
